[GREENFOOT-301] Sound irritations in Ubuntu
Sound in Greenfoot is finicky on Ubuntu with the Sun JRE. It seems that the JRE requires exclusive access to the OSS device (even though Ubuntu already has PulseAudio to share the device among many devices), and chokes if you have open any other applications that use the sound -- such as Firefox. It seems many other Java users have this problem, I tried the padsp work-around (http://www.tuxyturvy.com/blog/index.php?/archives/66-Making-Sun-Java-1.6-play-via-PulseAudio.html) without great success (it prevents the error popping up, but sounds cut out after a second or two, as other users at that link observed), the other suggestion is to use OpenJDK (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1465698).
