[BLUEJ-542] BlueJ screens freeze during student programming
For the last 10 years, my students have enjoyed using BlueJ as a platform to develop Java programs. I have always installed all software on the CS lab computers not ever having any issues at all with BlueJ. Last Spring, our often less than knowledgable IT group decided that I could no longer maintain the lab and they would install all software. Their method for installing Java was to simply use a script, fine so far, to just copy the executable to each computer and with an icon appearing on each desktop. The icons no longer have the bluej logo which did not seem to be a problem.
Now and all Fall Semester, students will be programming, the screen will freeze, the editor seems to not display what is stored and on and on.
Can you tell me if there is a bug in the most recent version of BlueJ causing operational issues? If not, is it important to use your installer to affect any system updates when BlueJ installs?
Your assistance with this is important as our IT group as per usual has preferred to doubt our report. So, I do need some help here. NOte that I am a former Software Engineer teaching in a high school. Love your tools for students as it is simple to understand, very visual, and as powerful as any other CMS.
